Picking up where the 2012 movie left off, the sequel finds special agent Reacher (Cruise) making his triumphant return to unit headquarters only to learn that he’s being accused of a 16-year-old homicide. And not only that, his friend Susan Turner (Cobie Smulders) is wrongly accused of espionage. With their lives at stake, the two comrades are forced into life on the run and judging from the recently released teaser, the living definitely isn’t easy.
Entertainment Tonight was the first to premiere the film’s action-packed teaser, which features an intro from Smulders herself. After busting Turner out of a maximum security prison, the preview shows Reacher and Turner fighting against the government to prove their innocence, along the way, the throw punches wherever necessary — and that includes planes, trains and diners.

“We’re on the run the entire movie,” explains Smulders. “We’re not spies. You really have to rely on your brain. And this,” she continued hold up both fists.
The Jack Reacher franchise is based on the book series by British author Lee Child and the original 2012 flick garnered $218.3 million in the box office worldwide. Not bad for a relatively unknown new action hero.
Directed by Edward Zwick (Blood Diamond, Love & Other Drugs, Defiance) and co-written by Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz, Jack Reacher: Never Go Back is due out in theaters worldwide on October 21, 2016.
