Spider-Man: Homecoming has officially added actor Donald Glover to its cast!

Variety reports that the Community alum will appear in Sony’s upcoming Spider-Man reboot alongside previously announced cast members, Tom Holland, Marisa Tomei, and K.C. Undercover’s Zendaya.

According to the report, Sony is currently keeping quiet as to who Glover will play in the upcoming superhero flick, but his involvement in the project is bound to be a dream come true for the actor.

Back in 2010, Glover campaigned to play the web-slinging superhero when Sony announced they would be rebooting their Amazing Spider-Man franchise, and the Spidey fanbase took to twitter to champion around the actor. In the end, despite the traction he received online, actor Andrew Garfield wound up taking up the mantle after Toby Maguire.

Even so, Glover’s Spidey dreams came to fruition in part when Disney X D tapped the actor to voice the character on their Ultimate Spider-Man: Web Warriors series. In the cartoon, Glover voices Miles Morales, an incarnation of Spider-Man who exists in a universe where Peter Parker is dead.

Morales is a fan favorite and many were hoping Sony would choose to follow his story arc instead of Peter Parker’s after the production company announced they would be rebooting Spider-Man for the third time.

Regardless, Glover’s casting almost feels like a long time coming, and we’re looking forward to seeing him when Spider-Man: Homecoming hits theaters!
