Fans of The Mindy Project were gutted after learning recently that actor Chris Messina would no longer be a series regular when the Hulu series returns for season 5, but Mindy Kaling wants fans to know we’ll still be seeing a lot of Danny Castellano.

During an interview with E! News, Kaling assured fans that they won’t be missing Danny as much as they’re thinking they will because “he’s going to be there.”

“When people hear that, I think that they sometimes get worried that they’re not going to see him, but he was in these past 13 episodes very frequently and they share a child,” explained Kaling to E! News. “I don’t want to scare people off about him not being in the show because the character is built into the fabric of the show, especially as the father of Mindy’s child.”

Kaling wrapped things up by assuring fans that we’ll be getting plenty of Danny before the fourth season wraps. According to the actress and showrunner, Danny will definitely come into play during the last four episodes of this season.

In other words, rest assured, Danny fans, the doc is still in business!
