Before she was making us laugh in films like Bridesmaids and The Heat, Melissa McCarthy was stealing scenes as optimistic chef Sookie St. James on Gilmore Girls.

With the Gilmore Gilmore‘s resident fast-talking, coffee-loving mother/daughter duo set to return with four 90-minute made-for-Netflix movies, fans of the series fans were elated to hear back in April that despite McCarthy’s hectic schedule (and some unfortunate miscommunication), Stars Hollow’s favorite cook would also be reprising her role and appearing in the upcoming revival. While attending the Elle’s Women in Comedy event with her Ghostbusters costars recently, McCarthy opened up to E! News about her highly anticipated Gilmore Girls return.

“Oh it was a bloodbath,” McCarthy joked while talking with E! News about her return to Stars Hollow. “No, it was so fun. I get so sentimental to be back on those sets and to see everybody. It was amazing how we just all fell back into it. And I think they’re gonna be great. But it was really lovely. I had such a good time going back.”

It’s not the first time McCarthy has described her return as “sentimental.” Back in April, the actress told People how much she was touched by the experience.

“Oh, my, God, it was so sad, I got so sentimental,” McCarthy told People earlier this year. “And it felt like the greatest idea in the world. It was lovely.”

Wherever McCarthy leads, we’re sure to follow!

While no premiere date for Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life has been announced, you can catch McCarthy in Ghostbusters, which arrives in theaters on July 15, 2016.
