We’ve all been known to sing a few Spice Girls songs during karaoke night, but the latest “wannabe” Spice Girl to belt out one of girl group’s classic hits is none other than Grammy award-winner Adele!
The self-proclaimed Spice Girl enthusiast recently gave concert-goers a rare treat when she covered a section of the group’s dance-pop single “Spice Up Your Life.” Among the fans of Adele’s impromptu cover is former Spice Girl Mel B (aka “Scary Spice”), who said Adele’s fandom leaves her “speechless.”
“I love Adele. I love the fact that she kind of tips her hat off to us and gives us props,” Mel B said during a recent conference call promoting the current season of America’s Got Talent, according to People. “I mean who isn’t a fan of Adele? So, to know that she’s a fan of the Spice Girls is definitely one for the books. I’m very kind of flattered. I think all of us are. It’s great. It leaves me speechless a little bit.”
Meanwhile, members Melanie C (“Sporty Spice”), Emma Bunton (“Baby Spice”), and Geri Halliewell (“Ginger Spice”), each gave their approval on Twitter by linking to a video of Adele’s performance.
What do you think? What other ’90s hits would you like to hear Adele cover?
