Starz may have just renewed Outlander for seasons 3 and 4, but producer Matt Roberts is already looking ahead at potential spinoff ideas involving author Diana Gabaldon’s series.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter Roberts revealed that though the series is currently focused on telling Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire’s (Caitriona Balfe) story, the topic of spinoffs is something that comes up a lot.

“Oddly enough, we always joke about spinoffs, whether it’s Lord John or Black Jack [Tobias Menzies] or this person or that person because there is just so much material. [Author] Diana Gabaldon gives us so much in the books that you can probably make 10 series and the fans would watch it all,” Roberts told THR.

Fans of the books know that Grey (who is portrayed by Oscar Kennedy on the show) has a huge role throughout the course of the drama— he’s even got his own spinoff series penned by Gabaldon herself.

However, according to Roberts, the team behind the series is holding off on having a serious discussion with regards to a spinoff series until they get the green light from the network.

“That would be something for Starz to order before we could start talking about it seriously,” Roberts told continued. “But we know there’s a whole line of books that Diana wrote about just that one character, so it was great to have his introduction in my script.”

As much as we’re enjoying Claire and Jamie’s adventures, it’s safe to say that like every other Outlander fan, we’re hoping Starz decides to green light a spinoff someday!

Outlander airs Saturdays at 9 p.m. on Starz.
