Could more Zootopia be on the way? The answer is probably!

In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, co-director Byron Howard opened up the possibility of whether or not we might be returning to the metropolitan world of Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman).

Despite the fact that there are currently no plans to get to work on a sequel or even a television show pegged around Disney’s latest blockbuster, Byron did say that the best thing about the success of film is that “there’s the potential for it to get bigger.”

If and when Disney comes knocking with potential spinoff opportunities, both Howard and fellow co-director Rich Moore want fans of Zootopia to know that they’ve definitely got more stories to tell.

“We cut a lot out during the making of the film,” said Howard, who added that one of the districts he’d love to explore is that of Sahara Square, which is home to the glamorous singing sensation, Gazelle (voiced by Shakira). “We introduced districts that we talked about that couldn’t fit in, other characters that were eliminated from the movie. There’s a vast potential for this world, so I’d love something more to come from it.”

Given the colorful world and memorable characters they’ve created, we’re glad to know that both Moore and Howard are on board with the idea of bringing us more Zootopia!

Until then, we’ll have to settle for rewatching the film on DVD!

You can pick up your copy of Zootopia on Blu-ray and DVD beginning June 7.
