As far as Disney Channel Original Movies go, there’s no denying that Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior definitely kicked some serious butt.

The DCOM first made it’s debut in 2006 and told the tale of a seemingly normal teenager named Wendy ( The Suite Life of Zack and Cody‘s Brenda Song) who’s life gets turned upside down after a young Buddhist monk named Shen (Shin Koyamada) pays her a visit. It is then that Shen reveals that Wendy is in fact a powerful female warrior. She’s also the only one with the power to stop an ancient evil spirit from destroying the world as we know it. That’s definitely a lot to take on in between trying to survive high school but luckily, Wendy’s got Shen by her side.

It’s been 10 years since Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior first premiered and if you’re anything like us, you might be wondering what ever happened to Shin Koyamada, who portrayed Shen. Koyamada did a bit of acting after Wendy Wu, and most notably appeared in the fantasy TV series The Yokai King. These days, however, it looks as though the actor prefers to work behind the camera. Koyamada has served as executive producer on a slew of TV series including Spirit Fashion Show, Spirit Art Show, and Spirit Music Show.

The good news is, Koyamada is very active on Twitter and does a great job of keeping fans up to date regarding what he’s been doing. Most recently, the former actor tweeted about joining the British Academy of Film and Television in Los Angeles to check out a virtual reality event put on by Oculus.

Despite leaving acting behind, it certainly looks as though Koyamada keeps pretty busy these days and we’re happy to know he’s doing well!
