The Fast and Furious franchise’s deeply embedded theme of family was never confined to the big screen. As evidenced many times, the tight-knit cast and crew of the popular action series have always shared a unique bond that comes with filming eight films in a span of fifteen years. This special bond was evident yet again recently when the on and off-screen leader of the franchise, Vin Diesel, paid tribute to his longtime friend Paul Walker while filming the upcoming Fast 8.

Diesel, who last year said that “Furious 7 was for Paul; [Fast] 8 is from Paul,” recently posted a touching throwback photo of himself and Walker on Instagram where he shared a sentimental behind-the-scenes story from the upcoming film.

“Many of the crew members who have worked on several of the past Fast films are here again to help us make something special. One of them at the end of the week came up to me and said wow what we are capturing on film is excellent… And then looked at me and said Paul would be proud,” Diesel wrote on Instagram hashtagging the photo with #wemakethemwithourhearts.

Way to make us tear up, Vin!
