He’s not only the Captain of America, now he’s also the undisputed king of the box office.

Despite only opening two weeks ago, EW reports that Captain America: Civil War has become the highest-grossing global movie of 2016. As of Wednesday (May 18), Marvel’s superhero skirmish between Iron Man and Captain America has earned an estimated $310.5 million domestically and $671.4 million internationally on its way to grossing a global total of $981.9 million.

Marvel’s blockbuster action film surpassed Disney’s animated buddy cop comedy Zootopia, which has brought in over $970 million worldwide since opening on March 4. Superhero films and animated movies have vanquished all of their cinematic opponents at the box office this year as Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, The Jungle Book, and Deadpool round out the top five.

The hotly anticipated face-off between the two Avengers catapulted to the top of everyone’s must-see lists due to a star-studded cast that features a veritable superhero dream team. Black Widow, Falcon, War Machine, Hawkeye, Black Panther, Scarlet Witch, Ant-Man, and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man all appear in the film, which as of Friday (May 20) just crossed the billion dollar mark.

As we move into the second half of 2016, superhero fans still have X-Men: Apocalypse, Suicide Squad, and Doctor Strange to enjoy before the new year.

Captain America: Civil War is now playing.
