We may have said goodbye to Michael Weatherly on NCIS last night, but there’s a possiblitly the actor’s exit may have just been a “see you later.”

In a conference call that happened prior to Tuesday (May 17) night’s big finale, People reports that Weatherly addressed the possibility that he could return to the franchise to make a special appearance somewhere down the line.

“I would absolutely be open to doing anything and everything— including things that no one’s even thought of yet,” teased Weatherly. “So, I would say the long answer is yes.”

Weatherly additionally went on to say that he has a lot of faith in the NCIS franchise, and that’s why he’s been so willing to jump over to its other spinoffs for a few episodes over the years that he’s portrayed Agent Tony DiNozzo.

“I believe in the franchise of NCIS very much, and it’s why I went and did NCIS LA last year and NCIS New Orleans,” said Weatherly. “In fact, last year I did 26 episodes of NCIS the franchise, which is insane.”

Despite the fact that we’ve just said goodbye to DiNozzo, it’s comforting to know that Weatherly is keeping the door open as far as NCIS is concerned!
