Michael Weatherly may be leaving NCIS tonight, but the actor will be doing so with the fondest of memories.

Weatherly, who portrayed Tony DiNozzo for 15 seasons on the hit series, reflected on the time he spent cracking cases on the show during a recent call with reporters. As reported by Zap2It, the actor said that despite the fact that he spent over a decade playing the same character, his run on NCIS was never boring.

“I saw every day as this grand, fun adventure, even all the way up to my last day— I never got sick of it, never got tired of it. I always appreciated the gift of the job,” explained Weatherly. “The hardest part of the whole experience was thinking, ‘Oh no, I think it’s time I have to leave.’ That was really the only hard part of the whole experience.”

Weatherly’s final episode as DiNozzo airs this week, and from the looks of things, the agent will be going out with a bang. During the first part of this year’s big season finale, fans were left stunned over a cliffhanger that suggested Ziva (Cote de Pablo) may be in grave danger.

Though Weatherly is keeping tight lipped as to the fate of both his character and former partner, the actor did reveal to Extra that in a way, death is imminent.

“Part of him dies,”  Weatherly told Extra of the big finale. “I do know that there is death…sudden death.”

Looks like we’re in for quite the ride on Michael Weatherly’s final episode!
