Get ready to see more of Harley Quinn, DC Fans! Warner Brothers is reportedly in the midst of planning an all-female superhero movie starring Suicide Squad’s Margot Robbie!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, in addition to starring as the unhinged anti-heroine, Robbie is also attached to produce the upcoming untitled spinoff.
Robbie’s Harley Quinn may be serving as the female lead, but she won’t be the only female comic book character kicking some serious butt when the film finally moves into production. The initial report announcing the project also reveals that Harley will be sharing the big screen with a few other female superheroes and villains.
Exact details are currently being kept firmly under wraps, but even so, it’s looking like Batgirl and Birds of Prey are among the bigger female comic book characters who may be joining Harley in the upcoming film.
Despite the fact that the film is still in the planning stages, news of the proposed project is bound to please fans of DC far and wide. DC Comics boasts no shortage of strong female characters— many of which fans have been hoping would make their way onto the big screen.
We’ll definitely be keeping a close eye on this proposed project and hope Warner Brothers releases more news on the matter soon! For now, we’ll have to settle for seeing Robbie make her debut as Harley Quinn in this summer’s Suicide Squad.
Suicide Squad opens in theaters on August 5
