‘Supergirl’ Is Officially Moving To The CW For Season 2

Big changes are coming to CBS’ Supergirl! The drama has been renewed for a second season, but with one slight catch: The next time viewers see the Girl of Steel flying into action, it’ll be on The CW.

According to sources speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, the show is changing networks due to cost reductions at CBS. As it stands, Supergirl ranks as the most expensive first-year show ever to be produced at CBS. It’s a big reason why next season will be shot in Vancouver and not Los Angeles, but even so, the cost of production was reportedly deemed too high for the network.

Luckily, the Melissa Benoist-led superhero drama has found a new home. The show — which is co-exec produced by Greg Berlanti — will certainly be in good company over at The CW — especially given the network’s extensive existing superhero lineup, which includes Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow (all of which are also helmed by Berlanti).

Since we’ve already seen Supergirl join forces with The Flash for a crossover episode that aired on CBS, we’re hoping this move means it won’t be long before she’s flying into episodes of Arrow and/or Legends of Tomorrow.

What do you think about Supergirl’s upcoming move? Let us know in the comments!

Supergirl currently airs Mondays on CBS.
