Get your first glimpse at Academy Award nominee Michael Fassbender as Callum Lynch/Aguilar in the first official trailer for Assassin’s Creed!

The introductory trailer for the highly anticipated film, which debuted on last night’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, will surely captivate fans of the franchise with this riveting opening line:

“At six p.m. yesterday evening you were executed and pronounced dead. You know longer exist.”

Directed by Justin Kurzel (Macbeth) and adapted from the popular video game franchise of the same name, the film follows Fassbender’s Callum Lynch, a character┬ádeveloped specifically for the film, as he uses revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories to experience the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. After discovering he is a descendant of a secret society of Assassins, Callum uses the knowledge and skills he’s amassed to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day.

Joining Fassbender in the cast is Academy Award-winner Marion Cotillard as Sophia Rikkin, Jeremy Irons as Alan Rikkin, Michael K. Williams as Moussa, and Brendan Gleeson as Callum Lynch’s father.

“We work in the dark to serve the light. We are Assassins.”
