We’re just a few weeks away from having to say goodbye to Kate Beckett on Castle. The series’ season 8 finale is set to air on May 16 and now, we’ve got our first look into what actress Stana Katic’s final appearance as the beloved character will look like.

In a series of stills revealed by ABC, we get a good look at Beckett and Castle (Nathan Fillion) in action. As usual, they’re on the case and this time, they’re hot on the heels of, LokSat, Bracken’s old partner turned drug lord.

From the looks of the new stills, there’s bound to be some nail-biting sequences in Katic’s final episode. There are a series of photos in which we see both Castle and Beckett crouched behind some crushed metal as they take photos of what’s going on before them. We’re betting something big happens here because in one of the stills, we see Castle flinging his gun over in Beckett’s direction.

On top of a brand-new crop of stills, we’ve also got a bit more information as to what the season finale, entitled “Crossfire,” will entail. TV Line reports that “an unforeseen twist” will catapult both Beckett and Castle into a dangerous, life threatening situation while they’re trying to crack the case of LokSat.

As sad as we’ll be to see Stana Katic go, we’re definitely interested to find out how show runners Alexi Hawley and Terence Paul Winter decide to tie up Beckett’s storyline.

Meanwhile, there’s still no word yet as to whether or not ABC will be renewing Castle for a ninth season. It looks like we’ll just have to cross our fingers for good news and wait and see what happens!

Castle airs Mondays at 10 p.m. on ABC.
