With summer movie season kicking off in May, now is the time to get your viewing list in order!
Fandango recently revealed the results of its Most Anticipated Summer Movies Survey, and the results might just help you figure out which releases are worth checking out in theaters.
According to Fandango’s survey, the upcoming superhero scuffle between Captain America and Iron Man in Captain America: Civil War ranks high on fans’ must-watch list. The film earned the top spot in the “Most Anticipated Summer Action Movie” category, edging out Independence Day: Resurgence to capture first place.
When it comes to cinematic entertainment for the whole family, Pixar’s Finding Dory is the top choice — the hotly anticipated sequel earned the title of “Most Anticipated Family Film of the Summer.” Meanwhile, the upcoming Ghostbusters reboot — led by Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones — toppled Central Intelligence and Neighbors 2 on its way to being voted “Most Anticipated Summer Comedy.”
You may want to arrive at the theater a little earlier if you plan on seeing one of the aforementioned blockbusters this year. According to Fandango, 66% of the people polled plan to go to the movies at least four times this summer.
“According to our survey, fans will be spending more time at the multiplex this summer,” Fandango Managing Editor Erik Davis said in a statement. “Last year’s record-breaking movie line-up has inspired fans to return to theaters, and this summer there is truly something for everyone.”
