Over the past eight years, Robert Downey Jr. has portrayed Tony Stark in three Iron Man films as well as a host of successful Marvel movies. While many believed we had seen RDJ don the iconic red and gold suit for the final time in a standalone film during 2013’s Iron Man 3, the actor recently opened the door to a potential Iron Man 4.
That’s right! Pepper, James Rhodes, and Happy Hogan could all potentially return for one last battle against one of the many villainous miscreants that inhabit the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And although they may be on opposite sides in Civil War, his frequent co-star Chris Evans revealed what makes the Iron Man films so darn good.
“Downey’s a real master,” Evans explained to Nightline. “It may not be necessarily classified as improvisation, but he certainly rewrites on the fly. After one take, scribble, scribble, scribble, try this. His rewrites are not self-serving; they’re scene-serving. He really knows how to make things better. That’s why the Iron Man movies are so good.”
You can see RDJ’s Iron Man wage war on his Avenger cohorts in Captain America: Civil War, which opens May 6, 2016.
