Matt Damon’s Jason Bourne is back once again to wreak havoc on sinister plots we can’t even explain – literally. The first full trailer for the highly anticipated summer flick dropped today (April 21) and although there’s plenty of action, it doesn’t give much away in terms of plot.
In the fifth installment in the Bourne series, Jason Bourne is fed up with the manipulative powers of the secret ops that molded him and is taking names of those accountable. Though it’s unclear what Bourne is trying to accomplish by stealing the government information, they know he’s up to something big.
“He’s seen things. He knows things. What if he’s not coming for us?” asks Alicia Vikander’s character. “What if it’s something else?”
Amid emblazoned Greek protestors, motorcycle rides down alley ways, a crazy chase scene in Las Vegas and a bare-knuckle boxing fight, the most telling moment in the two-minute trailer comes when CIA Director Robert Dewey, played by Tommy Lee Jones, tells Jason that no matter how many kills he has under his belt, he won’t “find any peace” unless he admits to himself who he really is.
Written by Paul Greengrass and Christopher Rousse, the new Bourne installment is set to hit theaters right in the middle of summer blockbuster season, on July 29. Universal Pictures also released a new poster with the trailer featuring a close portrait of Bourne looking like his usual startled-yet-vigilant self with the words ‘You Know His Name’ written across his face. Check out the trailer above.
