Class may soon be back in session for the students of Cyprus-Rhodes University as a Greek reunion movie is in development at Freeform (formerly ABC Family).

During a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, series creator Patrick Sean Smith revealed that the made-for-TV movie will pick up five years after the graduation of Casey (Spencer Grammer), Ashleigh (Amber Stevens West), and Evan (Jake McDorman), and could potentially be holiday-themed.

“We’re still figuring out how to tie that holiday element to a class reunion,” Smith told the outlet. “Romy and Michele, for me, is the quintessential class reunion movie of all time, so [we’re] trying to do the event justice but then also find something that will tie in to the time of year Freeform is considering premiering the movie.”

Smith also confirmed that he’s currently working on the script and that the cast is “super excited” about the potential reunion.

“I think everybody was surprised by [Freeform’s] announcement because, at this point, it still is only in development,” Smith said. “I hadn’t told anybody because I didn’t want anybody to get too excited until it was a little bit further down the field, but since it was announced, I’ve talked to all the cast and they’re all super excited. It’s a fingers-crossed situation.”

And that “fingers-crossed situation” extends to fans of the teen cult comedy as they wait to see whether the reunion movie receives the green light from Freeform.
