Congratulations are in order for “Levels” singer Nick Jonas! The Songwriters Hall of Fame announced on Monday (April 18) that the pop star will be this year’s recipient of the Hal David Starlight Award.
People reports that Songwriters Hall of Fame co-chairs Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff released a statement following the announcement, where they spoke of Jonas’ talent as a multi-faceted artist.
“Nick Jonas is one of the brightest and most versatile young talents on the American pop scene. A veteran of recording, television, movies and Broadway success…he has been making his cultural mark in a variety of ways for more than a decade,” said the co-chairs. “Nick has literally grown up in the public, and that growth is reflected in his songwriting and singing.”
The upcoming ceremony will take place June 9 in New York where Jonas will be in good company. During the event, the Songwriters Hall of Fame will also induct musicians Elvis Costello, Marvin Gaye, Tom Petty, Chic’s Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards, and Chip Taylor during the event.
Awards aside, 2016 is shaping up to be another busy year for the youngest Jonas Brother. The “Jealous” singer is also gearing up to hit the road with Demi Lovato for their Future Now summer tour. Additionally, fans are awaiting the release of Jonas’ highly anticipated follow-up to his 2014 self-titled album.
Nick Jonas’ Last Year Was Complicated is slated to be released on June 10.
