Now that Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios have agreed to share the rights to Spider-Man in order to allow the web-slinging superhero to make an appearance alongside Marvel’s Avengers, Miller is hoping Deadpool’s home studio of 20th Century Fox will be able to strike a similar deal.
In a recent interview with Superhero Hype, the director revealed that he and X-Men producer Simon Kinberg “have been trying to build bridges” with the studios in the hopes that Deadpool and Spider-Man could share the silver screen some day.
“I would love to see it. Both of us are close with [Marvel’s] Kevin [Feige], we respect and love Kevin. If it were even remotely possible, we will find a way ‘cause we’d love to see it,” said Miller.
A crossover between the Merc with a Mouth and New York City’s resident web-slinger is definitely something we’d love to see, so we’re hoping Miller and Kinberg will be able to work their magic and make it happen!
For now, fans will have to make due with Spider-Man joining forces with Marvel’s Avengers. Audiences will get their first taste of actor Tom Holland’s Peter Parker when he teams up with Iron Man in Captain America: Civil War, due out in theaters on May 6.
