It’s time to take a trip to Skull Island!
Featuring an all-star cast that includes Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, John C. Reilly, Samuel L. Jackson, and John Goodman, Warner Bros.’ upcoming Kong: Skull Island follows a group of explorers who visit a previously uncharted island to find their leader’s brother and a mythical serum. The exploration turns dangerous as the team encounters strange new creatures and mythical creatures that put their lives in peril.
But in the island’s defense, it is called Skull Island. You can’t really expect a peaceful jaunt when visiting a place named Skull.
The peek behind-the-scenes of the hotly anticipated blockbuster debuted during the 2016 MTV Movie Awards last night, and gives us our first look at the mysterious island as well as an introduction to Hiddleston and Larson’s characters but, unfortunately, does not provide viewers with their first look at Kong.
“King Kong is someone who’s been part of motion pictures for almost 100 years, and he’s back in a whole new incarnation; a new conception,” Hiddleston says in the preview. “Kong appears in this film as you’ve never seen him before.”
While the upcoming film will honor the foundations of the existing King Kong mythology, Kong: Skull Island will follow an entirely new, distinct timeline.
Kong: Skull Island arrives in theaters on March 10, 2017.
