It’s always hard to say goodbye. But luckily, the super finale to American Idol last night (April 7) went out with a bang — literally. Check out the 5 greatest moment from the final episode below!

1. Kelly Clarkson Performs An Acoustic Medley

Kelly Clarkson, the winner that started it all back in 2002, wasn’t able to be present at the night’s big finale. After all, she is about to have baby number 2 with husband Brandon Blackstock. But to commemorate to moment, Clarkson pre-taped an awe inspiring acoustic medley of some of her biggest hits. Don’t act like you weren’t jumping along when she belted the chorus to “Since You Been Gone.”

2. Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul Reunite

If the nostalgic feels weren’t washing over you at this point in the show, you might have to check your pulse. The original trio garnered an uproar from the Idol crowd and weren’t afraid to crack jokes on each other like old times.

3. William Hung Returns to the Stage

There are almost no words for the instant happiness the name “William Hung” brings to an Idol fan. Known for having one of the worst Idol auditions ever, Hung got the last laugh when he showed up to slay “She Bangs” just like old times.

4. Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood Team Up For A Duet

Two powerhouse country stars on one stage! Idol judge Keith Urban and season 4 winner Carrie Underwood brought that twangy, Southern spice to the night with a duet of “Draggin My Heart Down.”

5. The David Bowie Tribute

Former contestants Phillip Phillips, Kris Allen, Lee DeWyze and more strapped on their guitars for old time sake and paid tribute to the late great British rock star David Bowie in a touching tribute that almost rivaled Lady Gaga’s Grammy’s performance…almost.
