We were oh so close to a J.Law/J.Lo dance sesh.

In a story filed under missed celebrity opportunity, Jennifer Lawrence and Jennifer Lopez took to the media this week to explain a hilarious, dance-related misunderstanding that took place at the 2013 Met Gala.

“This is how I remember it: I remember that we were at the Met Ball, and Kanye [West] was about to perform, and it was like a crazy moment,” Lopez told Access Hollywood at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards. “She [Lawrence] was like, ‘Let’s go dance,’ and I was like, ‘No, I’m good right here. But I didn’t mean it like, ‘I don’t want to dance with you.’ I just meant, like, ‘It’s so crowded in here. Let’s stay right here.'”

Jennifer Lawrence, however, had a different recollection of the night in question.

Appearing on the Tonight Show last Thursday, Lawrence rehashed the event and revealed and she and Fallon had originally planned to ask Lopez to dance even going as far as to plan a secret routine, but Fallon backed out. “I do it, he’s gone, and it’s just me looking at J.Lo, going, ‘Dance with me!’ She was like, ‘I think I’m just gonna observe,'” Lawrence recalled. “You made me look like a freak in front of J.Lo! Do you know what that feels like?”

We can’t wait to see if this mishap is rectified at the 2015 Met Gala!
