Is Shakira exiting The Voice?
The singer — who joined the show in season four and returned for another stint this season — hinted to reporters on Tuesday that she’s ready to move on, according to Cosmo.
“For now, no, I don’t have any plans of coming back,” Shakira reportedly said about her plans for season eight. “This was always a temporary thing for me to do.”
Shakira added that “it’s been real fun” working on the show.
“But right now, I have to go on with my life as an artist. I’m not really a TV celebrity and I have to prep a tour and also do other stuff, like being a mother,” she said.
Shakira’s comments come on the heels of some major changes for the series. Coach Cee-Lo Green announced his departure from The Voice in February, while Christina Aguilera will be on maternity leave next season. Pharrell and Gwen Stefani will take their place in season seven, alongside current coaches Adam Levine and Blake Shelton.
No word yet on who would replace Shakira — if she actually decides to leave that is.
