Should someone tell Khaleesi we found her dragons?

An enormous fire-breathing dragon landed at Lincoln Center in New York City on Tuesday night for the season 4 premiere screening of Game of Thrones.

The stunt is just one of the many creative and outrageous ways HBO has advertised the wildly popular show over the past year. (Case in point: This amazing 3D sidewalk art in London, which was unveiled just in time for the series’ season 3 DVD release.)

With anticipation for the new season reaching an unbearable high following the New York premiere and release of the final season 4 trailer this week, let’s take a look back at some of the craziest ways HBO has advertised Game of Thrones in the past year!

In July 2013, the movie and TV streaming service BlinkBox placed a 40-foot-long dragon skull on Charmouth Beach in England to promote the arrival of the third season of the show on their site. The beach is part of Dorset’s Jurrasic coast, which is well known for its dinosaur fossils.

To promote the season 3 premiere, HBO opted for a simple, yet terrifying illusion. The network took out a full page ad in the New York Times that featured the shadow of a dragon. To top it off, HBO also took out bus ads and projected a dragon on the front of its Los Angeles office building.

This year, Game of Thrones got its own mixtape, aptly titled Catch the Throne. The release features some of hip-hop’s biggest names, including Wale, Common, and Big Boi. Check out the track list below.

HBO put on a large Game of Thrones exhibit at South by Southwest this year, featuring original artifacts from the show and an Oculus Rift virtual headset that immersed fans into the life of a Night’s Watch soldier in the GOT world.

Of course, the crowd favorite had to be when Grumpy Cat stopped by the exhibit to take a few pics on the iron throne.

The most recent viral sensation for the show came at the season 4 in New York City on Tuesday night. The giant dragon on the red carpet in Lincoln Center’s plaza appears to be Daenerys Targaryen’s largest dragon, Drogon, from the show. The fanatical beast was plopped right in the middle of the red carpet — and got to log some serious face time with Tyrion Lannister (aka Peter Dinklage).

Season 4 of Game of Thrones premieres April 6 on HBO.
