Turns out that the new kid on the young adult blockbuster movie block, Shailene Woodley, is not a fan of the vampire saga Twilight. The Divergent actress, whose credits include The Spectacular Now and the forthcoming film The Fault in Our Stars, recently revealed she felt a strong aversion to the romantic relationship shared between Bella and Edward in the popular series.

Twilight, I’m sorry, is about a very unhealthy, toxic relationship,” Woodley said. “She falls in love with this guy and the second he leaves her, her life is over and she’s going to kill herself! What message are we sending to young people? That is not going to help this world evolve.”

We may have to start referring to Woodley as Buffy, because she just verbally slayed some vampires!

The action-adventure thriller Divergent opens March 21st, 2014.

What do you think? Do you agree with Woodley? Was the Bella and Edward relationship toxic? Share your opinion in the comments section!
