“What are your plans for Valentine’s Day?” Ellen Degeneres asked Eva Mendes this relatively innocuous question on her show earlier today, and the star’s answer sent shock waves across the internet.

“I’ll probably just order a deep dish and watch The Notebook or something. Just cry and weep.”

First, we discovered Eva Mendes prefers deep dish pizza, which is odd. We always assumed she was a Neapolitan kinda gal. Second, and more germane to this post, Mendes mentioned watching The Notebook. In addition to having a reputation as one of the most romantic movies of all time, The Notebook just so happens to star Mendes’ possible boyfriend Ryan Gosling and his ex Rachel McAdams. You may be familiar with Gosling from his prolific movie career or from his side job as coolest human being on earth. We used the term “possible” because rumors of a possible breakup between the two stars have permeated the internet over the past couple of weeks.

Is this a clever jab at internet speculation or was Mendes simply telling the truth? If you’re going to wallow over a recent heartache, watching your former beau romantically pursue his real life ex-girlfriend in a movie certainly qualifies. Judge for yourself by watching Mendes’ appearance on Ellen below.
