In a Super Bowl contest devoid of drama, it was the commercials that ended up taking center stage last night. Nostalgia was the reoccurring theme of the night as Full House and even that basketball loving rapscallion known as Teen Wolf highlighted the advertising industry’s most important night of the year.
Here are some of our favorite commercials from the 2014 Super Bowl!
1. Volkswagen: Wings
Did you know that every time a Volkswagen hits 100,000 miles a German engineer gets their wings?
2. RadioShack: The Phone Call
RadioShack produced a crowd pleasing ad overflowing with ’80s nostalgia. Congratulations to everyone who wagered on Teen Wolf and Alf starring in a Super Bowl commercial together!
3. Beats: The Right Music
In one of the most clever commercials of the night, Ellen discovering the perfect music to dance to was just right.
4. Turbo Tax: Love Hurts
We absolutely love these commercials. Turbo Tax has done the impossible, they actually made us excited for tax season! Well, okay not really, but it’s still a creative ad campaign.
5. Ford: Nearly Double
Rob Riggle, James Franco and a tiger attempt to make Super Bowl history in this “nearly double sized” Ford commercial.
6. Kia’s Matrix parody
Who knew Morpheus had such a lovely singing voice?
7. Audi’s Doberhuahua
Was this the first Super Bowl commercial ever inspired by Sharknado?
8. Toyota: The Muppets
Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s Terry Crews teamed with Toyota and The Muppets for this feel-good commercial.
9. Cheerios: Gracie
How can you not love this adorable ad? Cheerios wins this year’s “cutest commercial” award.
10. Honda Hugfest
From Die Hard to hug hard, Bruce Willis and Fred Armisen hug it out in an attempt to remind us about automobile safety.
11. Chobani: Bear’s love yogurt
In the bear’s defense, he did attempt to pay for the yogurt.
12. T Mobile: Tim Tebow
Tim Tebow may not have an NFL contract, but the former player does have his own entertaining Super Bowl commercial.
13. Dannon Oikos Greek Yogurt: The Spill
Everyone’s favorite new bromance was on full display during the Super Bowl as Danny Tanner’s legendary distaste for spills hilariously ruins Uncle Jesse’s yogurt date.
14. Wonderful Pistachios: Stephen Colbert
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: If your ad contains a bald eagle in an adorable suit and tie we will purchase your product!
16. Jaguar: British Villains
“Oh yes… it’s good to be bad.”
