What can you expect from OneRepublic’s live performance of “Counting Stars” on the People’s Choice Awards tonight? “Tons of nudity,” says frontman Ryan Tedder. He’s kidding…we think. “Once the camera goes on, I don’t know what I’m gonna do. I’m usually just exploring the stage, so who knows what is going to happen,” says Tedder, who reveals that the band will be utilizing a string quartet to give their performance a classical element.
In an interview with PeoplesChoice.com, Tedder also shares the inspiration behind the band’s current hit “Counting Stars,” and you’ll be surprised to discover that a little known GLOBAL ICON by the name of Beyoncé just happened to be involved. “This is kind of random, but I was in a collective group of people, like last summer, writing for Beyoncé,” Tedder recalls. “One morning I got up to come up with ideas for her and the idea I came up with didn’t sound at all like her, and it sounded like us. And then I kinda just started freaking out and waiting to get home to actually finish it.”
Watch the performance tonight on the People’s Choice Awards on CBS at 9/8 central.
