Sara Bareilles joined forces with a very Brave cancer patient recently.

The Grammy-nominated singer invited four-year-old Joshua Chambers, who is battling cancer, to sing the chorus of Brave with her during a performance at the House of Blues in Orlando on Sunday.

Bareilles reportedly made it a point to meet the little boy after she learned Brave was his personal anthem

“Meeting someone like Joshua puts all sorts of things in perspective,” Bareilles told Fox 35. “It highlights and showcases what music and making music and connecting with people through music is all about.”

Joshua’s mother told Fox 35 that she told her son to be brave after he was diagnosed with leukemia in February. When Joshua — who is currently in remission — heard Bareilles’ song during one of his hospitalizations he believed she was singing about him.

Watch the video of a very adorable (and not at all camera shy!) Joshua rocking out with Bareilles below:

“It’s been such a pleasure to watch the message behind the music really connect with people about facing fears and allowing themselves to be their most courageous self,” Bareilles, who will be performing the hit single at the 2014 People’s Choice Awards, told PeoplesChoice.com recently. “It means so much to me; I’m really grateful I get to sing that song.”
