Mary-Kate And Ashley Olsen’s 5 Best Films

UPDATE: Nickelodeon has acquired Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s video library! The network announced on Thursday, April 23, 2015 that it will start airing early sitcoms and movies starring the girls on Monday, April 27.

You remember them as Michelle Tanner, the adorable twins in those innocent movies — we’re looking at you, To Grandmother’s House We Go — and one of the girls (Mary-Kate) in Weeds and Beastly, but in recent years, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have distanced themselves from Hollywood and instead focused their creative efforts on fashion. Now the twins are telling Elle UK that they’re officially quitting acting to pursue opportunities behind the lens, in fashion and beyond. “It doesn’t mean I’m not interested in Hollywood,” Ashley says. “I like the way it operates, I like the people who are involved and the sense of possibility. But if I ever get back in, it’s not going to be as an actress.”

We’re pretty sure the Olsens will be just fine with their critically loved fashion lines, The Row and Elizabeth and James, but we can’t say we won’t miss their movies. Take a look at their five best:

Double, Double Toil and Trouble (1993): In this G-rated Halloween flick, the Olsens must find a moon stone belonging to their aunt Agatha (a witch!). It may not have blood, horror or terror, but it’s good, clean Halloween fun.

It Takes Two (1995): It’s The Parent Trap–with an Olsen twist. One plays an orphan, the other a privileged rich kid and the two meet at a summer camp only to realize they look exactly like each other. They swap places and hilarity ensues.

Billboard Dad (1998): In Billboard Dad, the girls try to find a girlfriend for their newly single dad by advertising him on billboard signs. And wouldn’t you know? Their dad ends up falling for the mother of the girls’ arch nemesis. How rude!

Passport to Paris (1999): At the ripe age of 13, the twins jet off to Paris to see their grandmother, but they end up falling for the City of Light and some cute French boys. C’est la vie!

New York Minute (2004): Mary-Kate plays punk rock-loving Roxy, while Ashley plays straight-edged Jane, and during their one day in New York, pretty much everything goes wrong. So what’s a set of polar opposite twins supposed to do? They get over their differences to take on the Big Apple together, of course!
