Thelma and Louise, Llyod and Harry, Wayne and Garth–the best movie duos go together like peanut butter and jelly. And to celebrate our fresh-off-the-ballot nominees for Favorite Movie Duo, we’re looking back at some of the best movie duos of all time and where they are now. Take a look:
Wedding Crashers’ John and Jeremy: As we learned from Wedding Crashers, ain’t no party like a party crashed by these two. In the movie, Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn played juvenile, selfish, women-chasing party crashers–and we loved them for it.
Where are they now?: Wilson has forged a diverse movie career since Wedding Crashers, including the tearjerker Marley & Me and more cerebral Midnight in Paris directed by Woody Allen. Next up he stars in Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel. Meanwhile, Vaughn followed up Wedding Crashers with The Break-Up and Couples Retreat among other comedies. Next up? Anchorman 2 this Christmas.
Thelma and Louise, Dumb and Dumber, and more after the jump!
Thelma & Louise: In a sea of 80′s male-driven buddy comedies, Thelma & Louise showed movie-going audiences that women in film are a force to be reckoned with.
Where are they now?: Geena Davis went on to star in A League of Their Own before making the jump to television. She starred in series like The Geena Davis Show and Commander in Chief but is now perhaps best known for establishing the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media, which works to change female portrayals and gender stereotypes in media.
Susan Sarandon’s career post-T&L shouldn’t be much of a secret. The actress has starred in hits like Dead Man Walking, Stepmom and Cloud Atlas and made memorable TV appearances on Friends, The Simpsons and 30 Rock.
Dumb and Dumber‘s Harry and Lloyd: Do people like Harry and Lloyd actually exist in this world? Jim Carrey, Jeff Daniels and their inimitable onscreen chemistry certainly make us think so. Together they had perfect comedic timing, impeccable delivery and some of the most insane lines in movie history.
Where are they now?: After Dumb and Dumber, Carrey kept the zany persona as The Riddler in Batman Forever, assumed the role of Dr. Seuss’ most despicable character in How the Grinch Stole Christmas and even made an appearance on The Office. Daniels currently stars in HBO’s The Newsroom, for which he recently won an Emmy. But the dynamic duo are dusting off their orange and blue tuxedos for a Dumb and Dumber sequel (finally!), aptly titled Dumb and Dumber To.
Wayne’s World‘s Wayne and Garth: True friends need only their basement, some music and a show on public access television. That’s the story of these two 90′s icons, played by Mike Myers and Dana Carvey, who regularly requested us to “party on”–whenever they weren’t going mental over an Aerosmith appearance. We’re not worthy!
Where are they now?: After Wayne’s World, Myers starred in the wildly successful Austin Powers and Shrek franchises, while Carvey appeared in 2011′s Jack and Jill, starring fellow Saturday Night Live alum Adam Sandler.
Toy Story‘s Woody and Buzz Lightyear: One was a simple cowboy and the other was a revved-up, battery-operated space-fighting machine, but no matter the difference, these two were the best of friends.
Where are they now?: We hope they’re both getting plenty of playtime with Bonnie and seeing their beloved Andy every once in a while.
