Ryan Murphy announced last night at a Paley Center event that the next season of Glee will be the series’ last and also revealed that Cory Monteith’s death has completely changed how he originally envisioned the show’s ending.
“The final year of the show, which will be next year, was designed around Rachel and Cory/Finn’s story,” he said at the event. “I always knew that, I always knew how it would end. I knew what the last shot was – he was in it. I knew what the last line was – she said it to him. So when a tragedy like that happens you sort of have to pause and figure out what you want to do, so we’re figuring that out now.
Murphy says he has come up with a new ending that honors Finn. After last week’s touching tribute episode to Monteith/Finn, new episodes of the current season will resume next month.
