The polls closed yesterday for 43 categories for the 2013 People’s Choice Awards and fans have cast a record 400 million plus votes thus far. (For perspective, about 120 million votes were cast in last month’s presidential election.) Well played, my friends. Well, played.
But fear not, ye trigger-fingered pop culture enthusiasts. I said “thus far” for a reason. For the first time we’re keeping FIVE categories open through the first hour of the show, so you still have plenty of opportunities to voice your choice.
In People’s Choice tradition, the Favorite New TV Comedy and Favorite New TV Drama categories are still open. All new network comedies and dramas which debuted this fall before October 28th (and weren’t canceled unceremoniously) were eligible. (R.I.P. 666 Park Avenue, Animal Practice, Emily Owens M.D., Last Resort and Made in Jersey.) You narrowed down to your top five as follows:
FAVORITE NEW TV COMEDY: Go On, Guys with Kids, The Mindy Project, The Neighbors, The New Normal
FAVORITE NEW TV DRAMA: Arrow, Beauty and the Beast, Elementary, Nashville, Revolution.
Which of these new shows are your favorites? Personally, I’m a big fan of two of those comedies and one of the dramas, but I’ll keep the specifics between me and my maker because I need to be Switzerland in this whole endeavor.
But there’s more! For the first time we’re celebrating the superfans like yourselves, and those three categories will also remain open through show night.
