Jennifer Lawrence is currently the highest grossing action heroine ever. She is the second youngest Oscar nominee for Best Actress. She was one of People magazine’s 2011 Most Beautiful People in the World. She was named Sexiest Eyes on Victoria Secret’s 2012 What Is Sexy List.  She was one of Entertainment Weekly’s 2012 Entertainers of the Year. And, as of yesterday, she is AskMen.com’s Most Desirable Woman of 2012. Not bad for a 22 year old girl from Kentucky. Oh, and she plays guitar, is practiced in the military art of parkour and knows how to skin squirrels.

Lawrence is what you call the “it” girl right now. She’s hot (see above), she’s an intricate part of not one but two huge movie franchises (X-Men and The Hunger Games) and the girl can actually act (see Winter’s Bone… no, literally see it. It’s fantastic). And amazingly, she doesn’t really have that much experience under her belt to speak of. Throughout her very short career, she’s made some very smart choices which of course only adds to her stature and demand in the industry.  It’s this demand that I’d like to highlight today, and so below is a preview of the Jennifer’s upcoming films. What better way to show my respect and appreciation for this talented actress and People’s Choice Award nominee than to do a little PR on her behalf?

X-Men: Days of Future Past
IMDB offers this as the plot of the feature film, set for release in 2014:

The X-Men must travel in time to change a major historical event that could globally impact on man and mutant kind.

Pretty vague but it does achieve its goal of exciting the legions of X-Men fans who can now expect the stars of both the Main series and the First Class series to join together. Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan have already signed on (Xavier and Magneto from the Main series) as have James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender (Xavier and Magneto from the First Class series). OK, I’m a little confused by this point too, but bottom line, you can expect a star-studded, action packed thrill ride starring our beloved Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique and her real life boyfriend Nicholas Hoult as Beast. And, it’s all but confirmed that Hugh Jackman will once again don the metal gloves to reprise the role of Wolverine. Score!

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
I read the books, I’m a fan of Jennifer Lawrence and I really enjoyed this franchises’ first installment on the big screen so I am definitely excited about the upcoming adaptation of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, the second novel in The Hunger Games trilogy. Jenn, Liam and Josh have already begun filming in Atlanta and the release date is set for November 22, 2013. Now all we have to do is wait. I’m looking forward to the addition of Phillip Seymour Hoffman to the cast as Plutarch Heavensbee the Head Gamemaker who oversees the 75th Annual Hunger Games. What I am not looking forward to is watching the continuing relationship between Jennifer’s character – Katniss – and Josh Hutcherson’s character – Peeta – as I am firmly in the Gale/Liam Hemsworth camp. But mostly, I am just excited to be excited about a big blockbuster franchise. You couldn’t have paid me to watch anything related to Twilight.

Serena
In this Depression-era tale, Lawrence teams up once again with her “Silver Linings” costar Bradley Cooper to appear in the drama Serena, set for release in 2013. According to IMDB, it turns out that Lawrence was the one who suggested Cooper for the role, the two having gotten along so well while filming “Linings.” The plot involves the complications that ensue when a timber empire owner (Cooper) learns that his wife (Lawrence) cannot bear children. Suddenly, there is an illegitimate family that threatens their world and Serena begins to plan a murder… Sounds gooooood. This adaptation by Susanne Bier replaces the original planned adaptation by Darren Aronofsky starring Angelina Jolie which was titled The Falling. No offense to Darren and Angelina but I’m glad that fell through so Lawrence has a chance to shine once again.

Now tell us, which of Jennifer Lawrence’s upcoming projects are you most looking forward to?
