Awards season is officially here! It’s naturally a big week in Hollywood– with plenty of glamor, pomp, celebrity and spectacle. Of course TOMORROW is the big day for the People’s Choice Awards – be sure to tune in to CBS live from the Nokia Theatre in downtown LA. Kaley Cuoco is an extraordinary hostess and I suspect everyone’ll be beyond delighted with her show. She will of course be accompanied by literally a cavalcade of stars attending the evening’s festivities. Who are you most excited to see at the PCAs? Robert Pattinson? Demi Lovato? Faith Hill? Emma Stone? How about Josh Hutcherson? Maybe Ashley Greene, Alyson Hannigan, Liam Hemsworth, Julianne Hough, Vanessa Hudgens, Lea Michele or Jennifer Lawrence? And those are just a few of tomorrow’s guests. (They pretty much had me with RPattz.)
I also got another heady dose of Hollywood last weekend at Audi’s Golden Globes party. It was quite a spectacular fete (those European luxury car brands sure do know how to put on the dog). Lots of incredibly appealing talent hovering around signature sparkly cocktails and elegant hors d’oeuvres. Among them: Julie Bowen, Zoe Saldana, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Mark Salling, Anne Heche, James Tupper, Chord Overstreet and from The Help (aka The Year’s Best Movie) we had Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer and director Tate Taylor. Plus, since it was held at Cecconi’s (a very chichi little trattoria in West Hollywood) it was intimate enough that everyone got to hobnob plenty.
Last but not least, we have hearty congratulations to dole out today. First up (remember how everyone gets engaged or quickly divorced around this time of year? ) Emmy-winning Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul has proposed to girlfriend (and non-profit activist) Lauren Parsekian. Congrats to the pair.
Next, the biggest baby news of the new year (so far) is a little someone named Blue Ivy Carter who was born last weekend to some of the most high-profile entertainers on earth. In fact, poppa Jay Z was so thrilled that he wrote a song about her. Which, while indeed adorable, also contains one of the clunkiest lines in the history of hip-hop:
“”You’re my child with a child from Destiny’s Child,”
To be fair, perhaps he was just trying to nip any potential “maternity” questions up in the bud. Or, it’s also possible that the iconic, multi-million selling rapper just had a bad week, lyrically. Fortunately he’ll have plenty of time while warming up formula and changing diapers to work on those rhymes. In the meantime, bravo you guys!
