Miranda Lambert: Gutsy Cowgirl or Glass House Dweller?

Who on earth does Miranda Lambert think she is?

She may be adorable, she may have a terrific voice, she may have gumption and charm for days, but she sure does say some inane things.

(In case you’re not familiar, Lambert’s an extremely popular country singer with scads of platinum records, recently married to white-hot country singer/Voice judge Blake Shelton. Their union did great things for their combined publicity efforts.)

To backtrack: Reese Witherspoon absolutely, positively should have known better than to sport a contraband $4000 python-skin purse. Hilary Swank foolishly went to a party thrown by a brutal/murderous Chechen dictator and subsequently fired her management when she got in trouble (because she’s not familiar with Google?) These girls probably hope we’ll all forget about those lapses in judgment – and hopefully they’ll be a little on the contrite side of things down the road if the incidents come up.

Not Mrs. Blake Shelton. She appears to be going out of her way to hurl the largest stones she can find from the newest, biggest Glass House on the block. If you haven’t already heard what Miranda told CMT, EW, and every other media outlet whose ear she could bend, here’s what Lady Bountiful had to say about Kim Kardashian:

“I just kind of feel sorry for her in a way…In another way, I don’t. Because you get what you asked for… I think that it’s stressful enough to get married for regular people, like Blake and I, and I can’t imagine all that pressure on her.”

Okay.  Now, even if – inexplicably – the High Road didn’t look like the path to take, does a gal who is sitting so egregiously pretty right now have to bring her own sitch into the mix ? This might not have been such a ridiculous thing to say had her own recent nuptials not been the subject of rampant speculation. Whether or not she and Blake carried on while he was still married is none of our business, but when you’re paddling in gossipy, murky waters of your own, what say you refrain from casting aspersions?  The second thing that I find utterly astonishing here is the “regular people, like Blake and I” part. Really. Really?? It’s good to know she’s just like the rest of us. And a grammarian to boot.

Clearly anyone with an album, or a movie, or a television show to promote is going to take advantage of any opportunity that comes along to get some airtime, and if it’s prime airtime talking about a juicy hotbutton issue, all the better. But this gal – with a brand new album out – is really taking it a bit too far in the Holier Than Thou Department. One more thing she talks about a lot? Divorce. Lambert says: “Divorce is not an option. That’s what my mom has always said. That’s what I’m gonna take to my marriage.” That would be the marriage to the guy who’s on Wife #2.

What do you think about Miranda Lambert? Is she a feisty, opinionated firebrand who calls ‘em like she sees ‘em, or is she less than delicate with her characterizations?

Normally I wouldn’t care about these kinds of remarks – everyone hopes that when they get married it’ll last a lifetime and even the most auspicious unions often don’t. Especially in Hollywood. Nor do I know why her statements are so bothersome, especially since I understand that everyone wants – and needs to give – soundbites to keep the publicity machine rolling and the headlines printing. I do feel however that when you’re young, and you’re in the public eye, and you’re enjoying an enormous amount of success, it never hurts to just say you’re grateful. And keep it at that.

Today’s poll:

Which of these albums currently dominating the music charts is your favorite:

1)   Scotty McCreery / Clear as Day

2)   Coldplay / Mylo Xyolto

3)    Kelly Clarkson / Stronger

  1. Its like you learn my mind! You appear to understand so much about this, like you wrote the e book in it or something. I feel that you can do with some percent to power the message house a little bit, however instead of that, this is magnificent blog. A great read. I’ll certainly be back.

As crazy as the blogger THOUGHT it sounded, I have watched Miranda since the beginning. SHE has ALWAYS thought of herself as a “regular person.” She is a FAN of the people she has surrounded herself with in music. I think it’s silly to even ASK her what she thinks of Kim K. Who really cares? Sometimes when you get caught OFF GUARD you can’t think fast enough to USE PROPER GRAMMAR! Oh well. She’s country! You cant ask any more than that! She’s a doll and an awesome singer/songwriter! She is loved! Leave her alone!

  5. ellen says:

well i love mirandas music very much but i truly think that miranda is no better than kim is, two spoiled brats. neither of them is a regular person like the rest of us are and for miranda to say that is ridiculous in itself. As far as kim and her ridiculous marriage well it is number two for her and you would think she may have thought it through a bit better than she did before going in front of america and taking her vows which obviously mean nothing to her! as far as miranda well she really should not throw such stupid things around during interviews. She is very young and not at all the brightest as we can hear for ourselves. Who really cares about her opinion on anything is my question to you

  6. skookum says:

Seriously Blogger? Get a life! You and people like you, are whats wrong with the world. You are the reason why we have these NO TALENT Kim Kardashian types on TV nowadays. I’ll bet you watch all the ‘LEARN-NOTHING’ real housewives of NY LA BLAH BLAH BLAH and the rest of that waste of time garbage on TV too. Your parents must be so proud. I can’t believe I’m wasting my time even reading this and commenting on this but please certainly you didn’t grow up wanting to be a gossip tramp. Do something meaningful with your life…unlike Kim Kardashian!

  7. reeldeel123 says:

WHAT is the big deal here? Miranda was being herself, not a publicity craving wh***e! She was asked a question, and she answered it. I would be very concerned for the writer of this article-you might want to check out a few hunting shows-Miranda and Blake are great shots! They are very kind and down to earth people, I have had the pleasure of meeting them 3 times. Maybe people who write about “Hollywood types” have forgotten that there still are REAL people in the world! I would be worried about the comment alluding to her and Blake being together when he was previously married…if you have no proof-don’t write it! Go back to Hollyweird and leave our Country Music SUPERSTARS ALONE!!!And ‘Four The Record’ is AWESOME!!

  8. Rhonda in Ky says:

I agree with the majority of these posts. You Miss Blogger are way off base. Miranda was asked a question and answered how she felt. The part of her statement that made most sense to me is, Why do we waste so much time concerning ourselves with Kim Kardashin or with the entertainment business in general. Stars getting a haircut or wearing a new handbag are headline news! What have we come too?????

  9. cg says:

What does Miranda marrying a divorcee have to do with her comment on wanting to keep divorce out of her current marriage? Her husband was married before – NOT HER. Don’t all of us want our marriages to work when we get married? Divorce should not be an option – if you go into marriage thinking it is – it won’t work out. I praise Miranda for speaking her mind. GO MIRANDA!

  10. mamamarquez says:

Pleeasseeee!!! The person doing the interview ASKED the question. Let Miranda ANSWER!! Jeesh!! I don’t think she was trying to act “holier than thou” in any way. She’s real………unlike the subject question.

  11. Laura says:

Miranda’s workin her brand just like the rest of them. “Regular”?!! I think not. Paleeeezzzz

  12. Haley says:

Yet again, someone who makes their living casting opinions, whether they be negative or positive, and stirring the proverbial pot up is taking words out of context to create ANYTHING that will gain them attention at the expense of someone else. This is what is wrong with our country- if anyone in the public eye is ASKED their opinion and they honestly give it… there are plenty of vultures like yourself, Ms. Warner, ready to step in, spread it, and use it to your own benefit. I have to wonder what qualifications you hold that you can ask “Who in the world does Miranda Lambert think she is?” Perhaps if you’re accusing someone else of throwing stones you shouldn’t throw them yourself…wait that’s how you get people to pay attention to you.

  13. dawn says:

KK is nothing but a selfish rich witch. She did this for the money & publicity. I feel sorry for Kris. I agree with Miranda, there are so many more important issues in the world today besides KK. She should not be headlines at all. What about finding jobs, getting food for the hungry, etc. Give me a break.Leave Miranda alone, she is the truthful one here not the blogger. Miranda is more down to earth & “normal” than Kim ever will be. Why did she become popular, because her sex tape was leaked & she dates athletes. Who cares! Give me Miranda any day!

  14. larry says:

She didn’t say anything THAT negative. She was just saying that getting married under such a huge spotlight was probably a lot of pressure. And when she said divorce isn’t an option, she meant as far as she was concernced with her current marriage. What the hell is wrong with that? If that’s all it takes to offend people now-a-days, I think we’ve all become way too sensative. Seems to me the author is tryin got make a mountain out of a mole hill just to have something to write about.

  15. Brandy says:

Wow. I absolutely cannot believe what I’m reading. I could NOT agree more with this author. Quite frankly when I read about Lambert’s comments I thought some of the very same things. Just to be clear, I am NOT a Kim Kardashian fan. I think she’s full of crap and so is her mother that’s gone around defending her. That being said, I think Miranda chose to have a relationship with a married man, which most definitely does NOT show respect to the sanctity of marriage. I personally have been married for 13 years to the one and only man I have ever been married to and the same for him. I come from a family of divorce and it sucks but I don’t judge others that have to go through it. I think Miranda absolutely should have kept her mouth shut since she doesn’t know the people involved or the situation. It is better to keep your mouth shut and to make people think that you are ignorant, than to open your mouth and prove them right.

  16. Wendy says:

Miranda is a down to earth country girl, and says what is on her mind. KK I am so sick of her and her callousness of the vows of marriage, with the role model she has “her mother” what can we expect? Go Miranda!

  17. angelababy says:

    66Good luck .,I am a beautiful girl . a’friend t0ld me a nice place ====ag’éR0mancé.C[0]M==== it’s a popular club in the w0rld t0 date and marry .there are successful and beautiful’ pe0ple.. even ag’é-gap 1ove.where Ifind my b0yfriend 0lder than me 8years. It’s worthy a try..just have a try.
389693635These women are beautiful, and good examples of humanity.

  18. Swannie says:

She is just a country girl stating her opinion…absolutely nothing wrong with what she said!!

  19. Shirlmar says:

Loved everyones’ comments!! Miranda is a down home girl who speak her mind. She didn’t say anything mean about KK; just what we all were saying. Everyone know that farce of a wedding was done for money and not because they loved each other and was planning on spending the rest of their lives together.

  20. cjbarb says:

It sounds to me like the columnist is a hater of Miranda and a follower of KK. It also seems the columnist has no taste at all regarding glamor and slutness. Miranda do what you do and tell it like it is, where this person has no idea where class comes from or what class maybe.

  21. Esther says:

Who on Earth do YOU think YOU are? I think that the only person who’s out of order with her comments is you, Blog “Lady”! I agree with most people here when we say that Miranda is an amazingly talented and gracious woman of integrity! Her husband, Blake, may be on his 2nd marriage, but K.K. is on her 2nd marriage and divorce! So, YOU are the only one throwing stones at someone who doesn’t deserve to be criticized by the same media who asked her the questions that led to her statements! I agree with Miranda and think that YOU, PCA blogger, should be ashamed of yourself! There’s nothing wrong with being a strong woman who says what’s on her mind, as long as you’re not insulting or offensive towards others! Why don’t you do all of us a favor and keep your inflammatory statements to yourself?

  22. jennilynn rogers says:

and one more thing-miranda knows EXACTLY who she is!!!! id say sittin’pretty with the new release-FOURTH is awesome!!!!!!check it out if u havent already guys-shes all that and then some!!!!!!!!!

  23. She's Country says:

I think the writer is the one living in the glass house. She sure is throwing a lot of stones at other people in this article. Miranda did not make any disparaging remarks against KK, only restated what has been said by other people. KK and all of the Kardashian Klan are the attention seekers, not Miranda. I think Miranda is a wonderful singer and in case you didn’t research, she and Blake only became involved AFTER he was separated from his wife. Unlike Leann, who basically swooped in and carried off Eddie. But that’s another story.

  24. jennilynn rogers says:

i am so sorry that people these days have nothing better to do than to attack others who are so obviously much more talented, smart, and gorgeous-not to mention married HAPPILY to one of the hottest male celebrities to come along in forever!!! I say leave miss miranda alone-she is who she is and if u don’t want her HONEST opinion on things STOP ASKING HER!!!!!!!! miranda and blake are the most down to earth, honest, REAL celebrities we have these days-unlike Miss Kardashian or whatever her last name is at the moment. Dont worry Miranda-all of us with common sense love u guys!!!! :) ))))

  25. Jackson says:

Something you probably didn’t notice in your attack. Miranda was asked by the ONE press person at CMT about Kim Kardashian’s divorce. I’m guessing she wouldn’t have said anything if she hadn’t been directly asked. Although, the way you address it here makes her look like a attention-hungry media whore…which I think could quite possibly be the farthest thing from the truth.

  26. Gypsy Rose says:

Really, now let’s look at it like this…and mind you I like both these girls…see them as resourceful, independently minded, business oriented….but, Miranda has a voice, a true God-given talent…Kim is a savvy sound bite spinner…who makes millions off of her looks alone…no talent here…just the face/body…cameras follow her everywhere, there is no unknown anything in her life and that my fried is not NORMAL…Miranda may be a superstar, but she is one who lives a somewhat normal life when compared to the Kardashian Klan…and by the way..how many times have you been married little reporter person…and what is wrong with wanting to be married for life…a rather traditional, normal value…not making 17 or 18 million of your wedding videos, doing the normal thing wearing your Mom’s wedding dress….but hey what do I know…I’m just a normal female, who runs a multimillion dollar business, lives in the country and believes that the Constitution and it’s Freedom of Speech guarantee still actually applies to all Americans…but hell, what do I know….

  27. Kathy says:

I don’t get what she said wrong. I totally agree with Miranda. She didn’t say anything bad about KK. I love Miranda Lambert. She is just an honest good old Texas girl.

  28. TC says:

Miranda Lambert is a classic country girl who calls it like she sees it. Typically, as you (The writer, what is your name?)have shown, individuals tend to cast aspersions in to a culture that you really don’t understand. So what if she had a python purse, you didn’t mention all of the furs that Kim Kardashian wears in your attack!! Don’t be so judgmental until you stop wearing leather shoes, and wiping your rear with toilet PAPER!!! These women are at the top of their game, and its hard enough to stay there with out money grubbing reporters trying to dig up dirt.
These women are beautiful, and good examples of humanity. They make mistakes, and recover beautifully from them. Something all women should do.
Kim Kardashian is an amazing brand who has shown the world hundreds of times that she is a normal woman, who has a beautiful heart. Its hard to see one of America’s sweethearts go through a heartbreak like this, but as we all know, America is behind her. Hopefully she will learn and recover from this and come back stronger than ever. Somewhere out there is a man for her.
I know my “lil” country opinion don’t mean nothin’ to all ya’ll big time reporters, but next time, don’t judge until you know what the public truly thinks.

  29. marleen says:

I don’t get what your issue is with what Miranda said. It’s not like she said KK is a no-talent, money-grubbing fame w—e! Which would be closer to the truth.
Oh, and I think Miranda is the bomb, and you need to get over yourself.

  30. pj says:

i guess miranda lambert is more regular IN COMPARISON TO kim kardashian. but i think she said what every one in the world has been already sayin. just sayin.

  31. parrish.scott.73@GMAIL.COM says:

    Alyssa will dig this.
