Guess Who’s The New Wizard?

Welcome to your weekend. Now judging from yesterday’s poll you all want Michael Jackson to be the new focus of a “Glee” episode.  And evidently, the all-Madonna show was such a hit they’re putting together a sequel right now! On to Baby News.  Congratulations to lovely Amanda Peet, who starred in TV’s “Studio 360” (unfortunately canceled) and now stars in the upcoming Please Give (about to open in theatres & it’s awesome). Amanda and her husband just welcomed their second child, a baby girl.  Heather Locklear’s gotten into a bit of a scuffle with the law – again.  Seems she hit a No Parking sign and evidently didn’t, em, park (or even stop for that matter) and fess up.  She’s going to have to appear in court.  Now let’s talk about movies, because there are three opening today.  Each geared towards a different audience.  We have The Losers, a shoot-em-up about a band of misfits bent on revenge, with  Zoe Saldana  — from Avatar –  wearing what appears to be even less clothing in this film.  The movie’s  based on a DC Comic and also stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan (“Grey’s Anatomy”) plus Chris Evans (hot, just tapped to star as the new Captain America ). Then we have a new RomCom opening:  The Back Up Plan, starring  J.Lo and Alex O’Laughlin (we’re guessing Gerard Butler was  busy) about a single gal who gets preggers right when she meets the man of her dreams.  The final movie in theatres – and this one’s for the whole family – is Oceans, a documentary that feels like a thriller, narrated by Pierce Brosnan (isn’t almost anything better when it’s narrated by Pierce Brosnan?) and starring our oceans and everything that dwells in and around them. Really good word of mouth here.  Finally, some casting news.  This is very preliminary and there are no other details yet, but thought you might be interested to note that Robert Downey Jr. has been cast as the Wizard in a new Disney film that’s being a described as the prequel to The Wizard of Oz.  Sounds like a pretty momentous undertaking. Naturally we’ll want to know who you think should be cast in the other roles.  But for now, let’s just get back to the original;  voice your choice in today’s featured poll and tell us which is your favorite Wizard of Oz character?

1)    Dorothy

2)    Scarecrow

3)    Cowardly Lion

4)    Tin Man

I was wondering, could I use your article on one of my sites? Of course I’ll leave the credit to you as well as a link back!

  3. Lauren says:

I see Johnny as the Tin Man, definitely not the lion, and the Scarecrow seems too much like the Mad Hatter, and he’s already done that.

  4. Jeanette McMaster says:

I would rather see Johnny Depp in the Wizard of Oz movie, I believe he is the best actor for this kind of movie.
