ACM Awards, Coachella & Big Summer Movies Ahead!

Happy Monday…hope you had a good weekend. Did you watch the ACM Awards?  (if you’re reading this and thinking, gee there are an awful lot of country music awards shows, you’re right – there sure are,  but this one  – the 45th annual – really is one of the biggest and most prestigious. It’s the one Reba McEntire hosts.) What happened at the Vegas countryfest? Well, Carrie Underwood took away the top Entertainer of the Year  prize, and guess who else cleaned up with 3 trophies? Lady Antebellum. No surprises there as that threesome doesn’t seem to be slowing down any time soon. Best guy singer was Brad Paisley, and Miranda Lambert took the trophy from the field of ladies. In other news, one of music’s most popular summer kickoff events, the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, happened this past weekend in Southern California.  75,000 people flocked to the festival each day to catch one of the 140 bands playing. This year featured Muse, a reconstituted Faith No More, Jay Z & Beyonce (performing the music) Paris Hilton, Katy Perry, John Mayer and Kelly Osbourne (watching the music) & True Blood star Alexander Skarsgard (getting into a scuffle with police near the music). Did you happen to catch any flicks this weekend? A cursory check to our weekend movie box office stats reveals two things: 1) kids’ movies rule and 2) slightly older kids’ movies with dubious language and that deadly “R” rating, in spite of huge advertising, don’t always rule. So, the weekend’s #1 pic pick: How To Train Your Dragon – with $20 million. #2 was Kick-Ass, and #3, Well, that was Date Night (with Mr. Carell and Ms. Fey). Now as we head towards summer, the movies are likely to get bigger and badder (as will the amount of cash the movie studios pour into promoting them). So right now, since it’s still April, let’s take a peek at a few of summer’s most hotly-anticipated films and let us know which one you’re most exited about:
1)    The Twilight Saga: Eclipse
2)    Prince of Persia
3)    Karate Kid
4)     Iron Man 2
