Who Should Play Kurt Cobain?

Happy birthday Chuck Norris, Jon Hamm & Sharon Stone. Great feedback on yesterday’s poll. Turns out you were pretty sold on Hugh Jackman as fave Oscar host. So the entertainment world’s evidently moved past the Oscars, and is now busying itself with legal issues – of the dicey and expensive variety. So here goes. First up: that guy who allegedly tried to extort $2 million from David Letterman by threatening to expose some of Dave’s dalliances with members of the fairer sex who also happen to be on his em, payroll,  pleaded guilty. He’ll  get “six months of jailtime, five years probation and 1,000 hours of community service”. Also in trouble, rapper Lil Wayne has headed to Rikers Island for  a lil jailtime — on account of his gun possession. How much of the yearlong sentence he’ll actually do remains to be seen.  In other legal news, Lindsay Lohan is suing E-trade for $100 million dollars because of an ad they ran about a “milkaholic” kid who’s name also happens to be Lindsay. Not sure this one’s going anywhere. But let’s us go to movie news. In what seems to me to be a good idea all around, Robert DeNiro has signed on to play Vince Lombardi in the biopic of the beloved Green Bay Packers coach.  Who’s not going to see that?  Even if you don’t care about football…or DeNiro…seems like too much of a delicious comb to skip. Maybe they’ll get Sandy B. to play his wife. And here’s more casting news, which brings us to today’s poll. Woody Harrelson was nominated for an Oscar for  “The Messenger” (an awesome film by the way). Now, the guy who wrote and directed that movie – Oren Moverman – is directing the new movie about the late Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain. Courtney Love is attached to the project, so anyone who thinks she may have had something to do with her hub’s untimely death is going to have to watch someone else’s movie. We have reports that she wants Ryan Gosling for the part. That said, who do you want to see step into Kurt’s shoes? If you have other suggestions, by all means let us know. Voice your choice in today’s featured poll and tell us which of these actors you’d most like to see play Kurt Cobain in the movie  about his life:

1)  Ryan Gosling

2)    Emile Hirsch

3)    Jared Leto

4)    Zac Efron

Joe Anderson’s the only actor I’ve ever seen yet that could even BEGIN to convince me he was Kurt Cobain. He’s your ONLY CHOICE PEOPLE! WISE UP. If you don’t know who he is, check him out in 2007′s Across The Universe. Yes, he even sings.

  2. Sarah says:

If you’ve seen Emile Hirsch in Lords of Dogtown, he’s got that under-the-surface anger and rebellion together with a vulnerability thing happening – same as Kurt in real life.

With a bit of scruffing up, I do think he’d fit this shoe.

  3. well, Jude Law is really a very handsome guy, i would love to marry someone like him ‘::

  4. Jude Law is quite sexy, everyone of my friends love that guy,”‘

  5. jude law is really a macho, hunk actor. my brother idolizes him~;’

  6. turnip says:

Jared Leto should play kurt when he had long blonde hair he was the spitting image of him. He also has the attitude the eyes and the voice. The whole package.

  7. Jude Law could win the oscar award for best actor.;:;

  8. Cassie says:

Definitely Jared Leto. He’s got the eyes, he’s got the rocker in him, and I definitely think he can pull off the part of Kurt.

  9. Dugan says:

Ryan Gosling or Joe Anderson. They have the facial features and are naturally skinny along with being singing musicians. If you want to go the unknown route, Anderson is the obvious choice. If you want to select an actor who has been established, Gosling fits the bill with his Oscar nomination for Half Nelson. Regardless of who plays Cobain though, the script, director, and supporting cast will determine whether this is a good film just as much who will be playing the GenX posterchild.

  10. Jude Law is so damn handsome, every man wishes to be like him..’.

  13. Amanda says:

My choice is Jared Leto, ryan gossling has the look but he is too tall. Leto has the acting chops and the rock n roll swagger!

  14. Lisa says:

I dont know…I think Brad Pitt could pull it off. He is a great actor and I think he could really capture Kurt’s personality. If only he were about 10 years younger. Aaron Eckhart would be a good one too I think.
