2010 Grammys: Who Dressed Best?

Well,  the Grammys put on quite a show last night (even if the winners weren’t particularly surprising to anyone). Among the happenings: a special 3-D tribute to Michael Jackson, whose kids accepted his Lifetime Achievement Award (that part was genuinely poignant). Kanye West, still keeping that low profile and skipping the show. And Pink? Actively campaigning to become part of Cirque Du Soleil. Check YouTube on that one – just type in words or phrases like “Nude Bodysuit” and  “Suspended in Midair” and “Water Everywhere”. That should get you there. So here’s what happened. First up, Beyonce literally set a record for most Grammy wins by a female artist in one night, winning 6 awards after being nominated for 10. Now here’s your water-cooler rundown of the BIG wins:

1)    Song of the Year “Single Ladies” (Beyonce)

2)    Album of the Year “Fearless” (T. Swift)

3)    Female Pop Vocal  “Halo” (Beyonce)

4)    Male Pop Vocal  “Make It Mine” (J. Mraz)

5)    Rock Song “Use Somebody” (Kings of Leon)

6)    Rap Album “Relapse” (Eminem)

7)    Rap Song “Run This Town” (Rihanna, JayZ & Kanye)

8)    Female Country Vocal “White Horse” (T. Swift)

9)    Male Country Vocal “ Sweet Thing” (K. Urban)

10) New Artist : Zac Brown Band

See? No massive surprises. Except that I wish I’d even heard of this Zac Brown Band. Taylor Swift brought home 4 trophies, Lady Gaga won 2,  and there was even some nuptial news: actress Kristen Bell sported the diamond engagement ring given her by beau Dax Shepard. Congrats. In other news, a check to the People’s Choice Police Blotter reveals that actor Rip Torn was busted Friday for trying — get this one –  to rob a bank in Connecticut. Reports say he was found on the floor, drunk,  with a loaded revolver. So there’s that scary news. Now getting back to the good news, or at least the glittery news. We all know that even though the Grammy Awards are really just about the music, saluting excellence and achievement by performers, songwriters and musicians, in the end isn’t it really all about what they wore? (And for this poll, I am deliberately leaving Beyonce, Taylor and Lady G. out of the running. They get plenty of attention.) So please voice your choice in today’s featured poll and let us know whose outfit you liked most at the 2010 Grammy Awards…

1)    Kristen Bell

2)    Fergie

3)    Rihanna

4)    Mary J. Blige
