360,000 Ways to Say Happy Birthday

Wednesday’s here. And with it, a few newsy tidbits. But first, everyone seemed to have something to say about yesterday’s “Favorite TV Personality Poll”. Holy smokes. Didn’t know you cared so much about (and in some cases genuinely disliked) Oprah, Jay, Ellen or Glenn Beck. Thanks for all the great feedback. As usual, we’ll keep trying to stir the pot by bringing up the people you care most emphatically (one way or the other) about. So here goes for today. Right off the bat, we need to talk about Diddy. And one seriously over-the-toporrific party. Even by Puff’s standards. Now maybe it’s because it’s scheduled to be part of an MTV show, but the music mogul gave his son Justin Dior a Sweet Sixteen  that definitely takes the cake, giftwise.  First there was the Happy Birthday From Dad check for $10,000 (what, YOU didn’t get one for YOUR 16th?) Although to be fair, I’m told Justin donated it to Haiti, which seems like a pretty cool move. (At first I wondered , wouldn’t you keep a couple hundred bucks for video games? But Justin’s probably taken care of in that department).  Now here’s Diddy’s big present: a $360,000 silver Maybach sedan. With a driver standing by, ready to take young Justin wherever he wants (do you see  a trip to the DMV to get a driver’s license anytime soon?) Just thought I’d share that story in case you hadn’t heard. Or been invited. (And if you were, please tell us what you gave Justin). Now, bringing things back down to earth, in TV news it seems Oscar-winner Forest Whitaker is almost finished cutting a deal to star in a spin-off of “Criminal Minds”. Plus, we also have reports that say the on-again/off-again “House” spin-off may still be happening…so stay tuned… but don’t hold your breath too long. And our big TV story: Martha Stewart is moving to Hallmark. In a statement the Queen of Homemaking said: “…entertaining, weddings, crafting, cooking, gardening, holidays, pets and humor – are a perfect fit with Hallmark Channel”. Will you watch Martha on her new home channel? Of course, I’m not even certain how keen you are on Martha to begin with, which made me think maybe it’s time to ask  — in a poll — just which of these homemaking/cooking shows you watch. So please voice your choice in today’s featured poll and let us know which of these Doyennes of Dining is your favorite?

1) Martha Stewart

2) Rachael Ray

3) Paula Deen

4) Barefoot Contessa (Ina Garten)
