The weekend’s finally here. And with it, comes a crop of new movies and a massive global telethon to provide help for Haiti — courtesy of George Clooney, MTV and about 768 of George Clooney’s closest friends, most of whom just happen to be the biggest stars in film, TV and music. Tonight’s “‘Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief ” will air on all major networks. The list of  celebs is growing, and now on board we have Brad Pitt, Bruce Springsteen, Drew Barrymore, Leonardo DiCaprio, Clint Eastwood, Matt Damon, and Jon Stewart. Plus, one juicy bit – we have reports that Robert Pattinson is scheduled to be manning the phone banks in London – so that’ll probably  motivate a lot of tweens (and their Twi-Moms) to dial away. A notable no-show in all this? Kanye West, who seems not to fare well at large public celebrations that aren’t celebrating him. And tonight  is also somebody’s last night on late night TV (til he can go back to work for somebody else and for probably a lot more money after September 1st ) but we’re not saying who. Now, if it’s a movie you’re up for this weekend, you have only a few choices  in the “brand new” department. You might want to catch Legion, the apocalyptic angel of destruction film starring Paul Bettany, Dennis Quaid and People’s Choice Fave Kate Walsh. Or you could see Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in The Tooth Fairy. Pretty sure they’re hoping you’ll bring lots of  kids to that as well. Also opening? Extraordinary Measures, a heartstring-pulling medical drama starring Brendan Fraser and Harrison Ford.  In general news kibbles & bits, Tara Reid got engaged this week to her BF, internet entrepreneur Michael Axtmann. Congrats. And here’s something: apparently Rob Lowe is definitely leaving  the popular series “Brothers & Sisters”…no further news on where he’s headed but ABC wants to keep him around. Word is, they want him to have his own show. Thoughts? Should Rob have a show or should he go back to making movies? He made plenty of them before turning his focus towards TV, which is why I’m going to toss out a few of Rob’s films for you to consider. Voice your choice in today’s featured poll and let us know which of these Rob Lowe films is your favorite:

1)   St. Elmo’s Fire

2)   Wayne’s World

3)   About Last Night

4)   Austin Powers
