Couples and Zombies Rule!

Hope you had a great weekend…and for many of you it’s still going on as we celebrate Christopher Columbus discovering, well, “us” so to speak. Anyway…everyone tends to head to the movies on these holiday weekends and this one was no exception. So here’s how the flicks played out. Earning about $35 million (according to Entertainment Weekly and Box Office Mojo) for the weekend we have Couples Retreat taking the #1 spot. I saw it and even though it felt long sometimes, it sure was hilarious and just plain lots of fun. Taking the #2 spot was Zombieland, and rounding up the top 5 we have Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs, Toy Story/Toy Story 2 (in 3D) and another newcomer film. This one’s called Paranormal Activity is generating a HUGE amount of buzz on account of its Blair Witch-style premise. Evidently its about a couple who decides to turn a video camera on while they sleep,  and what they get in the playback is apparently more than disturbing. Expect the buzz to grow in a big way for Paranormal Activity — we’re not done with this scary shocker yet. But now let’s turn our attention to another big winner at the box office, Zombieland.  Zombie movies have always been a Hollywood staple, and some of them have been terrifying, while others are downright silly. With this in mind, voice your choice in today’s featured poll and let us  know which zombie movie is your favorite.

1) Zombieland

2) Night of the Living Dead

3) Shaun of the Dead
