Happy Friday…as we head out of August with the big blockbuster movies behind us (what were they again?) it’s quieter and the box office fare reflects this. (No “Harry Potters” to speak of). That said, what’ll it be this weekend, for those of you who might be heading out to the cineplex? Will it be Rob Zombie’s newest “Halloween II”? I only became recently aware of the fact that with serials like this, you’re allowed to say “let’s start all over again” — when you’re Rob Zombie — and now we have his “second” in the age -old horror franchise. And Zombie knows how to scare people, no question about that. Question is, will you let him scare you this weekend? Or will you maybe opt for Ang Lee’s historical flick “Taking Woodstock”, starring Demetri Martin and Emile Hirsch? This one’s all about the legendary upstate New York music festival and the movie is based on a true story. Finally, you might also catch The Final Destination which is the latest in that scary scary franchise (will that and Halloween cross-cancel each other out? ) Both of these scary pics are likely to make money. Which brings me to what seems like your next best option for the weekend — will you go see last week’s box office champ, Quentin Tarantino’s very good “Inglourious Basterds”? With a delicious Brad Pitt and BJ Novak and the guy (you heard it here first) who may very well win the Best Actor Oscar — Christoph Waltz? Voice your choice in today’s featured poll and let us know which of these films have caught your interest this weekend.
1) Halloween II
2) Taking Woodstock
3) The Final Destination
4) Inglourious Basterds

As one of the “lucky ones” who actually experienced the greatest concert of all times I can only say “It will never be the same”. Never again will such an event that really altered peoples lives and appreciation of such great talent as the original “Woodstock”. I am not even sure the law would allow another venue like it. It was a highlight in my life that I will never forget. It ranks up there above my wedding and birth of my children.
The style of the movie Kill Bill was beyond unbelievably great, unusual; so I am interested in seeing Inglorious Basterds only to watch for the Director’s style of moviemaking which I wish there were more of.
I am eager to see all movies directed by Quentin Tarantino.
Definitely “Taking Woodstock” if only to see Liev Schreiber in a dress. Plus, the film is scored by Danny Elfman.
