Meryl Streep in Julie & Julia
I haven’t seen Julie & Julia yet. I promised my friend Peter that we’d see it together and we’re planning on going this weekend. I have seen the trailers and read the reviews, however, and it’s looking pretty likely that Meryl Streep will score her 16th career Oscar nomination for her portrayal of Julia Child. Go Meryl!
Streep received her first Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in The Deer Hunter in 1978. She took home the gold in that same category the following year for Kramer vs. Kramer. Her only other nod for Best Supporting Actress was for 2002′s Adaptation.
All of Meryl’s other nominations have been in the Best Actress race, starting with The French Lieutenant’s Woman in 1981. She won the next year for Sophie’s Choice, and received nominations for Silkwood, Out of Africa, Ironweed, A Cry in the Dark, Postcards from the Edge, The Bridges of Madison County, One True Thing, Music of the Heart, The Devil Wears Prada and Doubt.
She already holds the record for most career nominations with 15, so a nod for Julie & Julia would merely solidify her position as the greatest actress of our time, a title she truly deserves.
Which of Meryl’s Oscar-nominated performances is your favorite: Out of Africa (1985), The Bridges of Madison County (1995) or The Devil Wears Prada (2006)? Voice your choice in today’s featured poll. All hail Meryl Streep.

I Love Meryl Streep. She is amazing actress and I think she should win an Oscar for her role each!
Although many might disagree with me, I LOVED her in MamaMia! Fantastically fun movie to watch. She’s good in whatever role she chooses… especially Death Becomes Her (a classic).
Based on what I’ve read, the Best Actress Oscar competition has quickly boiled down to a two-horse race between Meryl Streep (in Julie & Julia) and Carey Mulligan (in An Education).
I would really like to see this movie. I like Meryl Streep and I am starting to like Amy Adams as well. I really liked her in Enchanted. I have seen the trailer and read the reviews and am looking forward to seeing it.
I’d have to say that Julia Childs is my favorite. I love the character and Meryl’s interpretation. It’s not easy to portray a real person and if Julia were alive I’m sure she would love her performance.
