61st Primetime Emmy Awards
The nominations for the 61st Annual Primetime Emmy Awards were announced this morning and, although there were the usual number of snubs, the Television Academy has made some great choices this year.
They’ve expanded the number of nominees to six in the major acting categories and seven in the comedy and drama series categories. As a result, many first-timers made the cut. So instead of focusing on who should have been nominated but wasn’t, let’s celebrate the pleasant surprises. For example…
Simon Baker for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Patrick Jane on The Mentalist.
Jim Parsons for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as Sheldon Cooper on The Big Bang Theory.
Family Guy for Outstanding Comedy Series.
Which of these surprise Emmy nominations are you most excited about? Voice your choice in today’s featured poll. And be sure to tune in to the Emmy Awards on September 20th on CBS to find out who wins.

Could they look out for the most watched shows on TV?! CSI, for example?
I always had the feeling that CSI:Franchise keeps getting ignored and for much fans they have, which is a LOT.
They have some of most talented actors and actresses, and if I’m not wrong, any of them, was nominated for an emmy, which I think is frustrating!
Look to Emily Procter, she’s an amazing actress, she can do from drama to comedy to everything. She can do everything. She’s one of most adored persons in the show, she has an huge fan base who do the possible and impossible for her not being ignored in things like this, the Emmy. But seems like one more year and nothing, I keep see almost everytime the same people being nominated, and I’m really frustrated!!!
Hoping to see Emily in PCA nominations…

I think that Trueblood should have been nominated. It seems that whenever something is popular and engaging, the powers to be never give it awards ! I know I am not alone in saying that Trueblood is witty and entertaining !
I am very excited about my countryman, very sexy and very talented, Simon Baker being nominated for “The Mentalist”.
I wish him all the luck in the world, he deserves it!!
What I’m NOT happy about is a cartoon series “Family Guy” which grates on my nerves so I don’t watch it getting an Emmy Nomination, these arn’t real people, they are cartoon characters…….what is WRONG with the Emmy Nomination Committee to pick a cartoon series over one with REAL people with REAL acting skills to be nominated for an Emmy??
The CSI franchise is one of the most watched in the world. There are plenty of dedicated actors and actresses who make the shows. Why not notice them? Someone such as Emily Procter, or other main characters from the series, have been making their careers on these shows for years and do a darn good job of it!
I am not really happy about Best Drama Actress nominations because they are the same names they have been nominating in the last few years…I am happy for Kyra Sedgwick because she would deserve this award more than everyone else in that category and I am not surprised to see they totally dislake nominating an actress from the CSI franchise. Guys, it’s a reality…it’s the most watched frachise in the history, take at least a look at actresses like Marg Helgenberger and Emily Procter, Emily is so loved by viewers since when she was the most genial TV character in The West Wing…remember Ainsley Hayes? That’s acting…even if you don’t like CSI.
greys anatomy should have made a Best Drama nominee!! it deserves it!!
and ellen pompeo deserves an emmy, she has had EXCELLENT acting this season! as well as patrick dempsey.
