Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson

We lost two American icons yesterday: Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson.

Our knowledge that Farrah was losing her battle to cancer didn’t lessen the blow of the loss. We were still getting over the shock when we learned — a few hours later — that Michael Jackson died of cardiac arrest at 50. How can this be?

I was supposed to go to London for one of the concerts he was scheduled to perform there next month. I never had the pleasure of seeing him perform live and I was really looking forward to experiencing his comeback first hand. But now he’s gone.

The musical legacy he left behind is nothing short of extraordinary. From all his early ’70s hits with the Jackson 5 (“Ben”, “I’ll Be There”) to his dominance in the ’80s (the countless hits off of Thriller and Bad), he truly deserved the title of King of Pop.

Thriller is the biggest selling record in history. Which of its incredible tracks is your favorite:  “Beat It”, “Billie Jean”, or “Thriller”? Voice your choice in today’s featured poll. And feel free to pay tribute to Michael Jackson by leaving a comment below.

Beginning a site kind of similar to yours got me to get into some research and I found your post to be extremely useful. My site is centered around the idea of starving cancer by stopping the angiogenic process. I hope of you good luck with your writing in the future and you can be sure I’ll be following it.

I feel such a loss in my heart over Michael’s death. I only own his Thriller LP (yes, the vinyl & the cassette), but I did like watching his videos & think he was very gifted. Yes, he was eccentric, but no matter what, you were drawn to him. I really doubt he ever did what he was accused of; if he was guilty, it’s between him & God now. I think Michael more than paid for any wrongs he may have done (which I really don’t think he did.) He was such a tortured soul, he had the saddest eyes. I think he was an old soul, put here on Earth to bring happiness to all he touched & maybe teach us a lesson in love. How many singers besides Cher have brought all races & creeds together so united? He will surely be missed by me. He is in such a better place now where all the media hounds & those who strung him up can’t hurt him anymore. You were loved by many Michael, & I will miss you….:((

  24. It is such a great loss that a man with great talent like Michael Jackson dies. RIP King of POP.

I’m glad you are respectful of Jackson’s death, I’ve been reading a few blogs where people obviously dislike him, but straight-up have no respect for him or his family during this time. I think people sometimes believe going against the grain combined with social media is trendy, giving them an edge. We must be careful not to use a faceless Internet as an excuse to abandon humanism, respect and dignity. All that to say: thanks for your comments on Jackson.
